For months Bryn has been asking to take violin lessons. Finally she had her first lesson this past Wednesday with Bonnie of Meridee Winters School of Music. One great aspect of Meridee Winters' programming is that lessons are offered in the home, so I don't have to drag Luke along. We all liked Bonnie the minute that we met her, and after her first lesson, Bryn was skipping and giddy with excitement. In her first lesson, she learned how to hold the violin in rest position and how to put the violin into play position. She also learned the names of the four strings -- E, A, D, G. A copy of her homework from her first class is below.

Bonnie told Bryn that if she practiced four times, she'd get a sticker at her next lesson. Always the over-achiever, Bryn practiced, on her own volition, FIVE times. And she got to pick out a sticker yesterday when Bonnie came back for Bryn's second lesson. Initially they are not working with the bow as Bryn learns the names of the different strings. Here she is performing a song by plucking the strings: "GDG Stomp!"
