We all got a wonderful birthday present with Barack Obama winning the presidential election the night before Bryn's birthday. This event is the most historic in my lifetime, and we're excited about the promise that Obama and a Democratic Congress hold for addressing some of the damage inflicted by Bush's worst-to-date administration. As for Bryn, her presents have included a digital camera, a wooden ice cream shop, a puzzle of the U.S., which she has nearly mastered, and the gifts keep rolling in as Nama and Gran'pop head to town tomorrow for her hula-themed birthday party.
The night of Bryn's birthday we ate at Ruby's Diner, and the next day I brought cupcakes into her classroom. Luke insisted on having a candle, too, and he proudly told everyone afterwards that he got to "blow candle out."
