Kindergarten Graduation

Tonight the kids' school held an end-of-year celebration and kindergarten graduation ceremony. Four classes, including Luke's, participated in the event. Luke's class kicked off the event by singing two songs, but his entire class was drowned out by one kid who, knowing all of the words, walked right up to the microphone and belted out the lyrics to the Beatles' "With a little help from my friends." I had videoed Luke's performance but am afraid I had to delete it as my new camera's internal memory didn't have enough room for Luke's performance and Bryn's, and as this was her kindergarten graduation, I'm afraid her time on stage won out. (I've since ordered a memory card for the new camera.) Her class began by reading the poem, "All I Needed to Know I Learned in Kindergarten."

Then as they did at the winter holiday show, they performed a song with hand bells:

There were five more numbers to follow, including Animal Action

and Proud to be an American.

In a song about their dreams in which the class held up signs with their career aspirations, Bryn was flanked by two boys who dream of being rock stars. As for Bryn? As plastic surgeon.
Upside Down by Jack Johnson

and finally this last one where even the school director noticed Bryn's swiveling hips.

After Bryn's class' long performance, every student was called out individually to receive a certificate. Luke was wearing his new Pitt t-shirt...a bit of foreshadowing, I wonder?
After five years at the Bala Cynwyd School for Young Children, Bryn's last day is tomorrow.
At the conclusion of kindergarten, she is reading simple chapter books; can do simple addition and subtraction and can understand and speak some Spanish. Challenges lying ahead of her include tying shoe laces, multiplication and division, and telling time. And starting at a new school in the fall -- Penn Valley Elementary.
