Arrowhead Day Camp

I had the pleasure of attending Parents' Visiting Day at Arrowhead Day Camp, which Bryn has attended for four and a half weeks and has loved since Day One. Arrowhead is the quintessential day camp, offering everything from horseback riding to archery to gaga, a game that, as best as we can tell, is a lot like dodgeball.
My morning began by observing instructional swimming; then it was on to Pioneering where the campers brave ziplines of varying lengths and a dizzyingly high catwalk.
Bryn opted to demonstrate the big zipline.
First, she had to scale this rope ladder to get to the platform from which the zipline takes off:

There is about a 30-second delay in this next video as I didn't want to miss the start of the zipline -- knew it would be fast. So be patient and you'll see Bryn tackle a very long zipline:
At the end of the zipline, Bryn was all smiles.
She got in line for the catwalk next, but unfortunately ran out of time before switching to the next period. Here's a picture, though, of a fellow bunkmate, Helena, on the catwalk:
Next we went to boating and fishing, which Bryn says is not her favorite activity at camp, probably in part because she hasn't yet caught a fish. But she enjoyed taking the hand paddleboats out.

Then it was lunchtime, and the campers were excited to have breakfast for lunch, which included boxes of sweet cereal. The parents were offered hoagies on the playground. Next week is Bryn's last week but she is already planning to attend Arrowhead next year -- with Luke.
P.S. I went back to Arrowhead during Bryn's last week to watch her do archery. In her first round, she shot this arrow near the bulls eye and earned enough points to put herself into a second round of competition. And while she improved upon her first score in the second round, she wasn't one of two finalists who went on to the third and final round of competition. No worries, though. Bryn did receive a certificate for "outstanding achievement in swimming" and on her last day of camp she came home with a third-place ribbon for horseback riding. She said she won the driving range competition in her bunk and there's a chance that she might be awarded a trophy, but we won't find out for sure until next week when we return to camp to see the campers' production of Wizard of Oz. All in all Arrowhead was a truly wonderful experience that pushed Bryn and gave her lots of opportunities to try new things.
