On a hot Saturday afternoon three weeks before our scheduled departure from the Philadelphia area, we hosted a farewell party for Bryn and Luke. The attraction? One of our favorite babysitters, Luciano Maciel, aka "Big Luke," who led the kids in a water balloon toss; a water balloon fight (everybody against Big Luke); tug of war (again, everybody against Big Luke), and more. Check out some of the action:

Ken had developed one of his famous scavenger hunts, and we put the kids into four groups, each with a reader. But the mixed ages didn't work out so well, as it turns out; the younger kids had a hard time keeping up with the bigger kids, and it didn't matter how many times you said, "No running! It's not a race." The kids RAN. The final clue? Ice cream + truck.
We had arranged for an ice cream truck to pull into our driveway. The kids didn't seem as wowed as Ken and I had expected or hoped. But watching these videos assures me that Bryn and Luke had a good time at their party.
