While Bryn and Luke were at school, I poured plain gelatin into glasses and inserted straws before the Jell-o had congealed in the fridge. I thought the plain gelatin would be translucent and could pass as water, but it had a slight yellow tint to it, so I added a lemon slice to the glasses and told the kids the glasses contained homemade lemonade -- something we made recently with lemons that our next-door neighbor gives us from her tree. It was a credible ruse.
