1. Lukey made poopy in the potty for the first time last Friday night. He was in his PJs and in his bed when he told me that he wanted to get up and make poopy in the potty. We celebrated with ice cream for everyone -- including Bryn, but this special occasion seems to be an aberration. He hasn't made any progress since he first started peeing before bath time months ago. He uses the potty only once a day, before bath, and maybe once a week he'll agree to trying the potty when he first wakes up in the morning.
2. Lukey can now count to 10. He knows some higher numbers, too, but he's not yet saying them sequentially.
3. Luke spots an "L" for Luke wherever he sees words, whether it's "PULL" on a door handle when we're running errands or within the caption, "GREAT BARRIER CORAL REEF," on a poster in his room. "There's an 'L' for Lukey," he'll tell me, surprising me with his close observation.
4. Luke is making up jokes! His swim teacher's name is Miss Caroline, but he inevitably calls her "South Carolina." He knows the names of the states as a result of working on a puzzle of the U.S., and it tickles me to no end when you ask Luke the name of his swim teacher, and he says, smiling, "South Carolina." Then a pause. "I'm just jokin'!" This ranks among those "my kid's a genius" moments.
