No Longer the Fairest One of All

Every Thursday a most wonderful babysitter, Nicole Lima, spends time with Luke so I can go to my weekly tennis clinic, do the weekly grocery shopping, cook a meal, and if there's time remaining, shower. Nicole is from Brazil, and she occasionally sprinkles her conversations with Luke with Portuguese. She relayed to me a most exciting exchange with Luke today -- she asked him, in English, to come over to her, and in response, he said, "beiju," which means "kiss," and puckered his lips. :)

This afternoon I did manage to squeeze in a shower and dry my hair while Nicole was watching Luke, but after she had left, I asked Luke to come to my bathroom with me so I could put on a little make up.

L: "Why you need make up?"

N: "To look pretty. Do you think mommy's pretty?"

L: "Not as pretty as Nicole."

:)

And while I'm writing about Luke, I'll throw in one more thing that he did this week that made me laugh. The other morning when he awoke, he came and found me in my bathroom. I still needed some time to finish getting dressed, so he amused himself as he usually does by pushing buttons on the clock radio, dumping out all the contents of a pen holder on my nightstand, etc. When I told him it was time to go change his diaper, he unzipped his pajamas -- the kind, made of fleece, that have the feet built in -- and pulled out three stuffed animals that had been wrapped around his waist!
