Back in the Saddle

Now that the pool is closed, we're seeking out new weekend activities. It's hard to believe, but throughout the entire summer we never made it to the pony rides at Hidden Valley Farm. Last year Luke was a bit scared to ride, so I didn't know what to expect today, although he certainly seemed eager to try. Both Bryn and Luke had a grand time. Bryn went first, and as soon as she dismounted Stormy, she said she wanted to ride again. More surprisingly, though, was that Luke didn't complain about wearing a helmet; he got right up on the horse; he said he didn't want me to walk around the ring with him; and once he got moving, he didn't change his mind! He, too, rode a second time -- and the second time around, he made two laps around the corral.
From horseback riding we went straight to the Narberth Playground where they were having their annual "Back-to-School" event, which includes free cotton candy and free popcorn, so B&L had both. The weather was just perfect -- sunny and 80 degrees, so we were out of the house for five hours in all. Ken's in Singapore, and we missed having him with us today, but I for one was happy to have some great afternoon activities to make the day fly by.
