Getting Ready for Halloween

On Wednesday the kids and I went to a farm in Malvern, near Ken's office, to pick pumpkins. As an added bonus Ken was able to meet us there. The farm was small, but cute, and they had an interesting hay maze that we tried. The pumpkins were largely picked over, but we got what we came for, and carved them this weekend. On Sunday we had two parties back-to-back: a pumpkin-carving party in Haddonfield, NJ, and our annual block party.
The pumpkin-carving party was a big hit as the kids spent a lot of time painting pumpkins. The only problem is that it seems as though the paint was not the washable tempura paint that we use at home, and it's all over the clothes that the kids wore, including Bryn's light-weight jacket -- and Ken's pants, too! From the Vests' house we went directly to our annual neighborhood block party. It's a great event, but we arrived late this year, and didn't stay long, either. The temperature started to drop, and by the time we walked home, it was dark. It's not easy going to more than one party on the same day!
