Fourth of July

We had a really nice, long Fourth of July weekend. On Friday, before Nama came to town, we went blueberry picking at Linvilla Orchards. Even Ken got in on the action! Picking blueberries beats picking strawberries because you don't have to bend down and beats picking raspberries because there are no thorns.

Saturday morning we went to Narberth for carnival games and cotton candy. Bryn and Luke both tried their hands at tossing rolls of toilet paper into a potty decorated with stickers. Bryn actually made the last toss, but unfortunately I didn't capture her win on video.

Nama treated Bryn and Luke to face painting -- and got her very own cotton candy!
In the afternoon we went to Doylestown to the Moriarty estate -- complete with huge deck, swimming pool, new swing set, and black top. Luke had "so much fun" playing with Connor and Oliver's cars that he didn't want to leave. Finally, Nama and I took Bryn in the wagon to the fireworks display in Narberth. I had never been in our three summers here, so I was unprepared for the suggested $2 donation -- note to self for next year. The field was absolutely packed with people, so we laid our picnic blanket on the asphalt of Windsor Avenue. As it turns out, the fireworks show lasted nearly a full half hour, and it was really impressive. How wonderful not to have to fight the crowds and traffic in downtown Philadelphia given that we have such a nice display in our backyard.
