There was one mishap, though. Toys were scattered all over the family room floor, and while carrying Sara, David stepped on one of Luke's Matchbox cars on the slate floor in the entrance hall and slipped and landed, hard, flat on his back. The incident was really scary, but luckily Sara wasn't hurt, and David's injuries didn't seem to require medical attention. Everyone recognized that the incident was an accident, but from that point forward we found a safer place for Luke to play with his cars -- on the long hearth.
All of us ventured out to Great Falls, and it was good to get some fresh, albeit cold, air.
So we stopped at Starbucks in Potomac Village afterwards for some hot chocolate. The most difficult aspect of the weekend was our departure. We left about 30 minutes after David and his family, and I knew that after 2 days of a lot of chaos, my Mom's house was going to seem really empty without any company. And it did, and that day ended up being a sad, lonely day for my Mom.
