End of School-Year Celebration

Last week Bryn's classroom hosted an end-of-school-year celebration, and before being awarded certificates for completing "junior kindergarten," the children performed three songs. Bryn, of course, knew all of the words to the songs, but what impressed me and Ken is that despite her shy nature, she was smiling the whole time, and she really seemed to enjoy performing.

We took pictures with Teacher Kristine (wearing glasses) and Teacher Alison, too.

Overall I think Bryn had a great school year. The teachers made it fun with Goody Jar Thursdays (guess how many treats are in the jar, and then they get distributed among the class); Mystery Box Mondays (students take turns bringing in an object from home. The object is placed in a dark box, and whoever guesses what it is gets to choose the object for the following week); field trips; and a pajama party marking the 100th day of the school year. Most importantly, Bryn is beginning to do simple addition and subtraction; she can write in a journal by sounding out the phonetic spelling of words; and as mentioned in the previous post, she's beginning to read.

For posterity's sake, I took pictures of Bryn's classroom, but first, a video from the party that was held in Luke's classroom on Friday. Look for the kid with the spiderman face paint.
