Feeding sting rays

Today Bryn, Luke and I went to the aquarium in Camden to check out a brand new exhibit that allows visitors to touch and feed sting rays. The rays were velvety smooth, and Bryn commented that when they swim, it looks as though they're flying. Feeding times are just twice a day, and we were lucky enough to be there for the 11:30 feeding. The staff were very specific about the way in which the fish should be held under the water -- between the index and middle fingers, with your palm flat. Bryn squealed with delight the first time a ray took a fish from her; the rays suck the fish from your hand, so it feels a bit like a vacuum and tickles at the same time.

Luke was too fearful to offer fish to the rays, but he did touch more than one. We had a great time; the new exhibit is well worth the trip.
