Loose Tooth!

About two weeks ago, while at the dentist for a teeth cleaning, we learned that one of Bryn's bottom teeth was loose. By Friday you could begin to see the adult tooth emerging through the gum, behind the baby tooth. Over the weekend Bryn's tooth was getting looser and looser, but she was reluctant to pull it out.
At dinner Saturday evening, while eating a baguette, Bryn spit out something that she thought was the tough crust. I heard a "clink" - something had hit her plate. When I looked at her, she looked completely different -- now missing a tooth! She wasn't even aware that her tooth had come out!
Bryn got upset Saturday night because she didn't want the tooth fairy to take her tooth away. So with Ken's help, she left a note for the Tooth Fairy, who honored her wishes and left a $5 bill and a Susan B. Anthony silver dollar, too.
So in a week's time, Bryn has reached two significant milestones that I remember from my childhood -- learning how to ride a bike without training wheels and losing a tooth.
She's been showing everybody we come across the gap in her smile, and she told me tonight that she can't wait to lose another tooth.
