We learned from a neighbor across the street of a farm that offers pumpkin picking (and fresh Christmas trees for cutting), so we went on Saturday when it was sunny and in the mid-70s. Luke immediately took to the "pedal tractor" course, although they seemed a bit difficult to maneuver.

From there we rode in a horse-drawn wagon to a very large pumpkin patch where the pumpkins were boundless.

The farm had a small number of animals, including four Shetland ponies, a pig, some rabbits and some chickens and some goats that liked a tall ramp and walkway that had been built in their enclosure.

While Ken paid for our pumpkins, the kids and I inspected the warty gourds in the farm's store. I tried to get a seasonal picture of the kids, and while Bryn was happy to smile to show off her missing tooth, Luke made silly faces. So here's a shot of Pretty Bryn.

In the late afternoon, we went to our neighborhood's annual block party, which is where we first met Jocelin and Anton and Hannah five years ago. Bryn and Hannah watched the other neighborhood kids bob for apples, but neither had any interest in trying it themselves. After a while, Luke decided that he'd give it a go.
How much Ken assisted Luke will never be told. Luke was ecstatic when he successfully pulled in an apple, which he held up high like a trophy before eating. Good for him for participating!
