The Champion

For the past 20 weeks, Bryn has been attending a Little Gym class, which at her age, is like a pre-gymnastics class. Tonight, the last night, the class put on a show for the parents, and Bryn was giddy with excitement. The class was divided into three groups of about six kids each, and they all did the same short routines on the floor, which included a backwards roll (with assistance from one of the teachers), a jump on the floor, and standing on one leg; on the balance beam; and on the bars. After completing each routine, Bryn held her arms up in the air and exclaimed, "Ta Da!". Despite all of the onlookers -- parents and extended family, Bryn never seemed nervous when it was her turn to perform. Ken and I were especially impressed that though the first student to perform on the uneven bars, Bryn jumped right up, and was one of only two kids in her group of six to attempt all of the skills that they had worked on over the past semester. At the end of class, with music from the Olympics playing, the children were called up individually, and on a makeshift podium, awarded medals. Group shot, with Bryn at the far right, follows. Way to go, Bryn!
