Sunday we had our first taste of spring -- a sunny day with temperatures in the mid-60s. We took a picnic lunch to Sakura Sunday -- the capstone event of Philadelphia's cherry blossom festival. Unfortunately, we couldn't see the stage very well as we were in the back row of a standing audience, but we could still hear the taiko drummers. Last year Bryn and I had the pleasure of watching a large group of drummers and traditional dancers from Tamagawa University, but this year the talent was local, from Swarthmore University. I think the event was still worth going to, but there's no question that a picnic lunch is the only way to go. Lines for food were inordinately long, as were the lines for the bathroom. After lunch we headed back to the greenhouse where Japanese crafts are on display, and Bryn began work on a koi windsock. But by this time the crowds were impenetrable, and Luke was getting tired, so we headed home.
