First Egg Hunt of the Season

Saturday morning we went to the annual egg hunt hosted by West Laurel Hill Cemetery. It was cool in the morning -- and very windy. But the wait was worthwhile; Luke collected 33 plastic eggs and Bryn 25! Bryn and Ken went to one part of the grounds for three- and four-year-olds, while I supervised Luke with the other one- and two-year-olds. Eggs were simply scattered on the grass, and Luke would reach down and pick up one egg but forgo the other two lying next to the one he had collected. Along the grass were low-lying hedges, and Luke spent all of his time searching for and collecting the more challenging eggs hidden in the bushes.
As it turns out, his was an effective strategy as he wound up with eight more eggs than his big sister. Meanwhile, Bryn was elated to show me how many eggs she had collected. Since this event -- the first egg hunt of the season -- Bryn keeps asking me when the next egg hunt is.
