Holiday Show

After missing last year's holiday show, Bryn was absolutely ecstatic about this year's show. She knew that her class, the oldest at the school, would play a starring role by kicking off the show with this sweet hello song and then concluding the show with a whopping seven songs, including Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star in four languages (Spanish, Korean, Gujarati and Chinese) and Frosty the Snowman in Spanish! Here's the opening act:
Luke's class sang "All I Want for Christmas is a Hippopotamus," a second song about lighting the candles during Hanukkah (Shamesh, Shamesh), and a third song about the holidays (The Ha, Ha Holiday Song). Luke is at a disadvantage in that he attends school only three and a half days a week, so he didn't know all of the words, -- fewer and fewer as the show progressed. Luckily, Toby Myers -- the one who urges his classmates to "sing louder" -- did!
Upon returning to the stage, Bryn's class opened up with this lovely instrumental:

Then Twinkle Twinkle Little Star in several languages:

Frosty the Snowman in Spanish:

The Hand that Lights the Candle:

And the program keeps going, with "Everyone's a Kid at Christmas":

And another about Kwanzaa:

And finally -- no wonder Luke was getting impatient -- the timeless "Winter Wonderland."
Next year, when Bryn is in first grade, she will be allowed, as a graduate, to go up on stage to perform this last song with the kindergarten class. And so we have two more years of holiday shows put on by the Bala Cynwyd School for Young Children to which we can look forward.
