Christmas Morning

Bryn woke up first -- at 7:45. Not too early.
The stockings were attacked first:

Luke had asked Santa for a 20-pack of Matchbox cars that he had seen at Target as well as for some new Star Wars figures. He got both, and then some. And in one of my favorite pictures from Christmas morning, here he is, playing with his cars among the chaos:
Bryn had requested a zsu zsu pet -- a self-propelled stuffed animal hamster, but her most significant present was an American Girl doll from Nana and Papap. (As an aside, it was quite an effort getting the doll in time for Christmas morning. Just a few days before Christmas I discovered that the doll had been incorrectly delivered to 6033 West Chester Pike, as opposed to 6022 West Chester Pike where Ken works. On December 22nd, Ken stopped by the residence three times -- once on his way to work, once around lunch time, and again after work. No one was ever home. The next day in the late morning he happened to notice a car in the driveway, so he stopped again. This time someone answered the door, and he got the doll! In the meantime, a second doll has been ordered, but it's on back order until mid-January. When it arrives we will happily return it.)

Luke's favorite present came from Aunt Lori, Uncle David and Sara who got him a very cool light saber that can be operated as a single light saber with two glowing ends or as two separate sabers.
The light sabers were such a hit that we packed them for our week in Florida, and you'll see in the next post that they got use there, too. From the Shumanis Family Luke also got a Boba Fett helmet.
The kids also had fun with surprise balls that were left by their stockings. The balls were made of yards and yards of crepe paper, and unraveling them revealed small trinkets like tattoos and tongue twisters and noise makers.

Between grandparents and mom and dad and aunts and uncles and even Maritess, not to mention Santa, the kids got more than a dozen presents. So many to be obscene. After an hour and a half, the kids got present-opening fatigue and agreed to take a break to eat breakfast! And so around 11 a.m. our living room had come to look like this -- my other favorite picture from the morning:
Merry Christmas to All, and to All a Good Night!
