and Nana accompanied us to a birthday party downtown at a small gym for kids, While in town Nana showed me 1) how to make a chain of paper dolls as previous attempts had failed, and 2) how to make Jell-o jigglers, which we had enjoyed in Florida at Christmastime. (I had tried making them, but I realize now that I didn't read the directions carefully and didn't buy enough (4) packages of jell-o.) Nana also showed me and Bryn how to make a pinata out of paper mache -- a project Nana was to do with Bryn, but Bryn decided she didn't want to get her hands messy, so Nana ended up making the whole thing by herself!
Bryn went with Nana and Papap while Luke and I stayed on the ground. I didn't realize just how uncomfortable Nana was going to be in the balloon, but she survived the experience, and can relate how much Bryn enjoyed her first hot air balloon ride.
View of Memorial Hall, where the new Please Touch Museum will be opening in October.
In terms of viewing the animals, a highlight was our proximity to the gorillas, one of whom was right up against the glass, and he seemed to enjoy making faces at his spectators.
Despite all of this excitement, Bryn said her favorite part of this most recent trip to the zoo was her new pink sippy cup, in the shape of an elephant! Nana and Papap left Monday afternoon, and I suspect the next time we see them, Luke will be two, and Nana and Papap will be able to tell us all about their long-anticipated Russian cruise.
