This past Wednesday Bryn and I went on our farthest field trip yet -- The Crayola Factory in Easton, PA, which is about 70 miles away. We coordinated with Becky Bramen and her two daughters, Sydney (age 4) and Samantha (age 2) -- pictured here, with Bryn, writing on glass walls. To my disappointment, there was very little in terms of seeing how crayons and markers are manufactured, but there were lots of arts and crafts stations that kept the girls busy and engaged. The girls did stamp art, and dried their prints on an automatic drying rack; used fabric markers on stuffed animal frogs; and experimented with a new product -- a white clay that can be colored with markers. In recounting her day to Ken, Bryn seemed a bit underwhelmed, but I thought it was a fun outing. A highlight for me was witnessing Sydney, who's six months older than Bryn, write "MOM" on a piece of paper; I got a gliimpse of how exciting it will be when Bryn begins reading and writing, too.
