Fun Fall Saturday

I'm really excited because Blogger has changed its interface for attachments, and it's now accepting videos, and most importantly, it's accepting the kind of video that I'm able to take! Hooray!!!!! I'll have to go back and see if I can add clips to older posts, including the one of Bryn blowing out Luke's birthday candle!

This morning I had the pleasure of taking Bryn to her swim lesson where I witnessed her diving into the water. When she kneels on the edge of the pool and puts her "alligator arms" above her head, she goes under the surface as she enters the water. She tried a couple of times from a standing position, but these attempts ended up more like jumps.
But, still, diving before the age of four! More from swim class:

This afternoon was our neighborhood's annual block party. It's a great event that makes our neighborhood really special, complete with fire truck to explore and lots of side dishes to complement the burgers and hot dogs. I don't yet know how many people attended this year, but last year's head count was 300. It's through this annual event that we've met Jocelin, Anton and Hannah as well as another family that has become one of our more regular week-day playdates. This year I joined the group of organizers, so I met some neighbors through that involvement. Our first stop was at the ever-popular make-your-own necklace stand where Luke ate a lot of licorice and a lot of "cheerios" (i.e., Froot Loops) as Bryn diligently worked on her necklace.

Both B&L looked at the fire truck but had no interest sitting inside. The highlight of the party was watching some of the older kids bob for apples. It's not an easy thing to do, and Ken caught one of the kids cheating with his hands! Bryn took on the very important role of handing each participant a dry towel after his/her turn, and when we got home, she tried bobbing for an apple in the tub.
