Nana and Papap's Visit

We had a whirlwind visit with Nana and Papap who arrived Monday afternoon, after Luke's nap, and left for Pittsburgh first thing Wednesday morning. On Monday we went to the Please Touch Museum, where Bryn explored with Nana and Luke stayed close to me. On this visit, Luke played with the water toys and had fun turning the jets that make currents onto himself! He also spent at least 10 minutes punching in at the construction site. [ask Nana if she has any pictures of Bryn at the museum]

On Tuesday we went to Linvilla Orchards to pick out our pumpkins. It seemed that the only ones they had left were very large, but we finally found a decent-sized one on a display. They had a great selection of unusual pumpkins (e.g., peanut pumpkins, which look to be covered with some kind of fungus) and squashes, so we bought some of these, including one that looks like a snake -- and now even more so with large googly eyes and a forked tongue. While rain wasn't in the forecast, we did get caught in a light rain as the kids were on the playground, so we cut our trip short. The upshot is that we had enough time to go to Ruby's Diner for lunch where Bryn surprised all of us by requesting of our server "a cherry on top" of her complimentary ice cream, and Luke had the same.

Once we got home, Bryn was very thorough in scooping the seeds out of our carving pumpkin.Luke had a turn, too, but he wasn't interested in getting messy, so he left most of the work for Bryn.
